Biography


- Completed a PhD (doctorate) in Communication and Journalism, with a specialization in Health Communication, from the School of Communication, Journalism and Marketing at Massey University, New Zealand in 2024. My doctoral research, titled "Construction of health among the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh: A Culture-Centred Approach," explores how health is understood, experienced, and negotiated within the refugee context. Since August 2017, I have been actively engaged with the Rohingya refugee crisis, contributing through in-depth research, community engagement, and culturally grounded analysis.

- Working as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Culture-Centred Approach to Research and Evaluation (CARE) at Massey University, since March 2020, contributing to multiple community-led research projects focused on health equity, migrant and refugee wellbeing, and social justice.

- From October 2022 to October 2024, worked as a Settlement Cross-Cultural Worker with the New Zealand Red Cross, providing direct support to refugee-background communities to facilitate their successful resettlement and social integration.

- From April to October 2023, served as the Service Manager at the Manawatu Multicultural Council (MMC), a well-established charitable organisation that has been supporting migrants, refugees, and newcomers in Palmerston North for over 30 years. In this role, I led service delivery initiatives, managed staff and budgets, and ensured culturally responsive support for diverse communities.

- Served as a Government Officer of Bangladesh, working in the state-owned media for over 17 years. I was a News Producer at Bangladesh Television (BTV) for more than nine years, where I was responsible for producing national news content. Prior to that, I worked at Bangladesh Betar (Radio Bangladesh) for over eight years, including in the senior role of Regional Director, overseeing programming and regional broadcasting operations.

- Worked as a Senior Lecturer, Pharmacy at the University of Development Alternative (UODA), Bangladesh during the 2009–2010 academic session. Following my full-time role, I remained actively involved in the research activities of the Department of Pharmacy, UODA, as an adjunct contributor until February 2020, supporting ongoing academic and scientific research initiatives.

- Awarded  the prestigious NOMA (NORAD's Programme for Master Studies, Norway) Fellowship for studying Regional Master’s in Journalism, Media and Communication degree,  recognizing my academic excellence and leadership potential in the field.

- Awarded the Gold Medal (Chancellor Award) for academic excellence in my MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree, graduating with a CGPA of 3.98 out of 4. Additionally, I secured 19th position in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination, scoring 799 out of 1000 marks among 88,465 students of Jessore Board.

- Still a registered (A Grade) Pharmacist in Bangladesh, maintaining my professional credentials and commitment to health and pharmacy practice. .
